Question
  • Q. Hi, how much extra speed will this typically give an ET2 50 please?
  • A.

a standard Piaggio does not rev over 10,000rpm so removing any 10,000rpm restriction would not make any difference if your moped is standard as the revs do not normally go this high anyway.

The only way a derestricted cdi on these bikes (Piaggio 2-stroke) makes a difference is where the bike is tuned or modified (e.g. higher revving sports pipe, cylinder kit etc.) to the point where it needs to rev higher than standard but is unable to get past 10,000rpm because of the limiter.

  • Q. what is the method of connecting this to a new HT lead, If I buy this and a "ht with plug cap" do I require any additional parts to connect the two? Thank you
  • A.

Hi, no- the socket on the CDI has a small screw sticking out and the new HT lead simply screws into this.
