Gilera started production of the Stalker in 1996.
Stalkers use a 50cc air-cooled 2-stroke engine produced by Piaggio. The Gilera Stalker features 10 inch wheels with large tyres intended to help the Stalker to cope with more rugged terrain, making the Stalker appealing to people living in rural areas. Some models of the Stalker were produced with front and rear hydraulic disc brakes although most examples of the Stalker use a rear cable-operated drum brake. Production of the Stalker finished in 2012.
