In 2011 a new version of Piaggio's longest running model of scooter the Typhoon was introduced.
The new model included fully restyled body, chassis and components along with 12 inch wheels. Also included in the updates, the new Typhoon saw the introduction of a 4-stroke engine to the Typhoon range. 50cc models of the new Typhoon use Piaggio's air-cooled 2-stroke HI-PER2 engine. 125cc models of the new Typhoon use Piaggio's air-cooled 4-stroke LEADER engine. The new Typhoon shares many of its features with Aprilia's new SR Motard.
